San Diego trip-short but sweet!!

Last weekend we took a quick trip to San Diego. The high there was 66 degrees, quite a bit different from the 98 degree weather in AZ. We had such a fun time relaxing and getting some sun. The ocean was too cold for me but Thad and Jacey had tons of fun going for their swim every morning. The view from the patio in our room was gorgeous as usual and it was so nice to fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing in the background. We were all so sad to have to come back to the heat. We are already planning our next trip :-)
We of course had many photo op's and took advantage of them :-)
Saturday we spent the entire day at the beach. I was so worried about keeping lots of sun screen on the kids that I kind of neglected myself :-( I will spare you the pic's but needless to say I got burned pretty dang bad. I still have a hard time sleeping at night because my back and legs are so sore :-(

The first time we stayed in Pacific Beach we found this fun little place called "Kono's" that was right down the boardwalk from our hotel. We just had to eat breakfast and lunch there this trip as well but little did we know that it is in all the travel guides as one of the best places to eat. Thad had to wait in line for over 30 minutes to get us breakfast. Sooo worth the wait though!!!! We ate lunch there as well and Jacey had so much fun feeding the little birdies her french fries.

Keely is just like her big sister, she LOVES the water. It was freezing but she didn't cry once. She only spent a few minutes in the water and spent the rest of the day frolicking in the sand.

And here she is frolicking...

After our day at the beach Thad took Keely on a stroller ride to return his wet suit (yes, he finally admitted it was too cold) and she was so tired that she fell asleep almost as soon as she hit the stroller.
Saturday night we went down to the harbor so Thad could see all the boats and huge naval ships. He is obsessed!!! We took a ferry ride to and from Coronado Island and the view was amazing!!!!

Birthday festivities

The night before Jacey's birthday, Thad and I decorated the living room and set out her birthday presents. She was so excited when she woke up and saw all the streamers, balloons and her new "big girl" bike. The neighbor kids all have big bikes and she's been wanting her own for a while. She looked so cute trying to ride it for the first time. I had to explain that it would be much easier to ride it outside than in the living room :-)

Friday morning I took Jacey, her cousins, Skyler, Garrett & Carson and her BFF Bentley to the train park. My sister Charisse was nice enough to come with me to help control all the kiddo's. They had so much fun riding the train, playing at the park and riding the carousel. We were all ready for a nap though when we left :-)

Friday night we had pizza, cake & ice cream at the park with all the family. Since all of my family and most of Thad's family were in town we had quite the group. It was awesome weather and Jacey had a blast eating cupcakes, riding her bike, playing with her cousins, eating more cupcakes, etc....

Happy Birthday Jacey!!!!

Jacey Lyn Mason-3 years old

(Jacey at 3 months)
(Jacey at 1 year)

My sweet little Jacey turned 3 today. I can't believe how fast she seems to be growing up. I love my grown up little princess but boy do I miss my little baby as well. Jacey is miss independent these days and insists on doing everything herself. She is such a good little helper. When I went to the park tonight to set up for her birthday party she and I were the only ones there and she was such a good little helper. She kept talking to her teddy bear and saying "We aren't playing yet, we have to help set up for the party first and then we can play". So stinkin cute!!! She is the best big sister and loves to make Keely laugh. She is my favorite person to snuggle with and I love that her favorite thing for me to do is tickle her.
Happy Birthday Jacey-I love you!!!!!!!!!!

Easter fun and Jacey's new "friend"

This week has been so crazy. It all started with Easter and just keeps getting busier. My niece is getting baptized this weekend and it's spring break in Utah so my sister's Delaina and Charisse decided to come down. Charisse doesn't get here until tonight but on Easter Sunday we had all the family there but her. It was so fun to have everyone together again, it's been a while. My aunt and uncle where also here from Washington and it was fun to see them as well. Unfortunately my camera was acting crazy so I didn't get any pictures of my kids in their dresses. Thankfully my dad did so I'll post those once I get them from him :-)

Kenneth and Delaina have a little boy named Garrett. He is 4 1/2 and is the cutest little guy. He and Jacey played together all night Sunday and Jacey was so sad when we had to leave. She doesn't quite understand the term "cousin" so she kept calling him her friend. Monday morning when she woke up the first thing she said was, "Mommy, I want to play with my friend, please Mommy can I see my friend". I knew she was referring to Garrett. So, while I ran errands my mom was nice enough to let Jacey come over and play with Garrett for a few hours. They had so much fun playing together in the back yard and running through the sprinklers. We went over again on Tuesday and Jacey was so sad when we were leaving that I suggested Garrett come spend the night with us. Garrett came home with us and Jacey had her first official sleep over. She had so much fun. I'm not so sure Garrett did though. Poor kid, he's starting to realize that Jacey is like the energizer bunny, she just keeps going and going and going. He just wanted to go to sleep and she just wanted to stay up talking all night :-) I couldn't resist taking a few photo's after they finally fell asleep :-) Thanks Delaina for letting Jacey spend so much time with Garrett her new "friend"!!!

(Sorry for the blurry Easter pics-my auto focus was off )

Catching up

Man I have a lot of catching up to do. Sick kids sure make it hard to get anything done :-) Last month we went camping with our friends Brock and Jessica. When I think of camping I picture lots of pine trees and forest surrounding us and much cooler weather. This wasn't quite what I had in mind. The first thing I did when we got there was give Brock a hard time about his choice of locations. In his defence, the previous locations he had selected hadn't worked out. Despite the lack of trees we still had a fun time. We slept in the back of the trailer (see below) on a mattress and ended up with both kids in the bed with us. Not the best sleep I've ever had but that's okay. Everyone brought their quads and Brock's friend brought a dune buggy type of thing and all the kids loved going for rides. Jacey and Bentley (her BFF) had such a fun time teasing each other. Brock & Jessica may not invite us camping ever again :-)

Tempe music festival

Don't you just love friends that make you do things you don't want to do :-) Last Saturday I was having a very bad day. I wasn't feeling good and basically just laid around the house the entire day. I hate to admit it but I hadn't even gotten out of my PJ's. Then around 5:00 I got a phone call from my friend Mara. She had bought tickets to the Tempe Music Festival and the person she was going to go with cancelled on her. She called me trying to convince me I needed to go with her. Okay I love good music as much as the next person, but I really didn't want to get up and have to get ready for the night and drag myself to a concert in the middle of the night. I told her I'd have to ask Thad when he got home from is priesthood meeting. I figured that Thad would say no because he didn't want to watch the kids all night. Boy was I wrong :-) When I told Thad he was all excited and said I needed to go. Between him and Mara I didn't have a choice. So, at 8:30 at night Mara dragged my booty over to the festival. I have to say that although I was up way past my bedtime it was such a fun night. We saw the All American Rejects first and then over an hour later 3 doors down. Both where great performances and boy was Brad Arnold (lead singer of 3DD) hot!!!! I recorded some songs on my phone but heck if I can get them to download. You'll just have to settle for pictures :-) Thanks for dragging my butt out of bed Mara!!!!

I love his voice but dang Tyson Ritter is skinny. There's something wrong with a guy being skinnier than me.
Wide screen view. Don't you just love the red outfit (not!!)

Bed of Roses

When it rains it really pores. The sickness in our house started with Jacey running a fever of 105, then when that drama died down we all went camping (pictures to come) and Thad and Keely came home sick. Thad just barely started to recover from his nastiness just in time for me to get sick and the entire cycle repeats itself. As I lay in bed this week contemplating my many ailments and what to do about them I suddenly had the urge to watch a really good chick flick. The movie Bed of Roses popped into my head. I own this movie but heck if I could find it so I hopped onto my computer and after a few clicks of the mouse had my Netflicks order on it's way. I remember watching this movie when it first came out back in the late 90's and thinking "I wish I could meet someone that romantic and have dozens upon dozens of roses delivered to my doorstep". This line of thinking is exactly why Thad hates it when I watch chick flicks. Too bad Thad!!!!
As I lay in bed today watching this movie I was in chick flick heaven. I remembered how much I LOVE this movie and how awesome the sound track is. I swear that a good sound track can make or break a movie. Anyway, I'm sure that Thad can't wait unit I'm feeling better again and I can stop romanticizing the day away :-)
